BlueChip Energy Announces New Florida Solar Rebate

Alternative Energy Utility to Help Consumers Obtain Affordable Solar Power

The solar energy system incentive is $2.00 per Watt based on a cash purchase. On a 5kW (5000 Watts) Fusion Solar Generator, the rebate would be $10,000. A financed purchase rebate is $1.75 per Watt.  The rebate program is for systems purchased between June 1 and June 30, 2010 that are installed by company technicians.

The move is being done to demonstrate the company’s commitment to help Florida residents obtain alternative renewable energy now.  “As it is not clear if the State of Florida will continue to support renewable energy with incentives, we are introducing this incentive to support our customers, and encourage the growth of independent power generation” said Tom Cernera, Vice President of Sales. 

The State of Florida Solar Energy System Incentives Program was established in 2006 to provide financial incentives for the purchase and installation of solar energy systems.  The Florida Legislature did not appropriate any funding during the 2010 Regular Session for the Solar Rebate Program and the program will sunset June 30, 2010.

In the Energy Act of 2005, the U.S. Congress passed an income tax credit equal to 30% of the cost of a solar electric or solar domestic hot water system. Consumers that purchase solar energy systems are eligible for the Federal tax credit of 30% of cost with no upper limitthrough 2016.
